The City Council of the City of Irene consists of a Mayor and four (4) Aldermen, two elected from and by the electors of each ward of the City.  The Mayor and City Council shall have such authority and perform such duties as are prescribed by the statutes of the State of South Dakota and ordinances of the City of Irene.

The regular monthly meetings of the City Council shall be held at City Hall on the first Monday after the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. except when Monday is a legal holiday, and in that case the meeting shall be held on another specified date.  Meetings may be held on other specific dates as set by the Mayor with the majority vote of the City Council.
