Matt is the Irene Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief. He choses to live in Irene for the small-town living. Matt enjoys attending Irene-Wakonda sporting events. His favorite recreational activities to do around Irene are fishing and golfing. Each year he looks forward to the Old Goat Bike Trip with friends and Johnke Fishing trip with his family.

Tim Ganschow
Assistant Fire Chief
Tim serves the community of Irene by volunteering with the Irene Fire Department and is the Assistant Chief. He chooses to live in the Irene area because he likes the small town feel and how small communities come together when needed. His favorite recreational activities in or around Irene includes coaching baseball in the summer and mowing yards through his Ganschow Lawn Care business. Tim looks forward to the annual Irene Rodeo each year.

Allen Alsdorf
Allen serves the community as an Irene Volunteer Fireman. He choses to work in Irene because his parents live here and own a business which he helps with a lot. He enjoys playing with the kids and dogs. Each year Allen looks forward to attending the Irene Rodeo.

Rick is involved in the community of Irene volunteering with the Irene Fire Department. He choses to live in Irene because he was born and raised here. He enjoys the small-town living and nice community. His favorite recreational activities are golfing at Glenridge Golf Course, attending Irene-Wakonda sporting events, and Irene Cardinal Amateur baseball games.

David is involved in the community of Irene as a volunteer Fireman and a member of the Irene Rodeo Association. David enjoys living in Irene because of the small-town life and friendly neighborhoods. His favorite recreational activities are riding motorcycle and camping. Each year David looks forward to the Annual Irene Rodeo!

Jesse Davis
Jesse serves the community by volunteering as an Irene First Responder and Irene Volunteer Fireman. He enjoys the small-town life Irene has to offer and being close to his family. Jesse enjoys camping at local campgrounds, fishing, and spending time at the river with friends. Each year Jesse looks forward to attending the annual Irene Rodeo and Legion Feather Party.

Landon is involved in the community by volunteering as an Irene First Responder and Irene Volunteer Fireman. In the summer Landon enjoys working for the Irene City. He enjoys the small town feeling of Irene and the people. Landon looks forward to attending the Irene Rodeo each year! Additionally, Landon appreciates the support of the community the volunteer departments receive.

Brendon Hansen
Brendon is involved in the community by volunteering on the Irene Fire Department and serves as the President of the Irene Community Development Corporation. He also owns Brenden Hansen Farmers Union Insurance Agency. Brendon choose to work in the community because it is his hometown and he enjoys small town SD living! His favorite recreational activities in the area include golfing, hunting, baseball and attending school activities. Each year Brenden looks forward to Sunday in the Park, Irene Rodeo and Irene-Wakonda Homecoming! GO EAGLES!

Brian Hansen
Brian is involved in the community of Irene with the Irene Volunteer Fire Department, Sunset Manor Board of Directors, Irene Food Pantry, and is a business owner. He has chosen to live in Irene because it is where he was born and raised, its is close to his family, and he owns an insurance business which he enjoys being able to sell to people he grew up with in the community. Brian also enjoys living in Irene for the small-town parks and things to do with family and friends. His favorite recreational activities to do in Irene are fishing and going to the park with his grandkids. Additionally, Brian enjoys the small-town support and comradery of neighbors and friends and add you know almost everyone! The Irene Rodeo and Sunday in the Park are annual events Brian looks forward to attending each year!

Geno Hansen
Geno serves the community of Irene on the Volunteer Fire Department. He chooses to live here as it is where he was raised and has raised his three children. Geno enjoys living in Irene to close to family and friends. The Irene Rodeo is what he looks forward to each year!

Josh Huth
Josh is the Branch Manager and Loan Officer at Merchants State Bank in Irene since 2013. He is a member of the Irene Volunteer Fire Department, the Irene Community Development Corporation board, Irene Community Foundation, and Glenridge Golf Course. Josh chooses to work and volunteer in the community because he was raised in the Irene area and graduated from Irene High School in 1999. After college and working several years in Sioux Falls, he was given the opportunity to come back to his hometown and work for Merchants State Bank. He and his wife always wanted to move back to their hometown and have the opportunity to raise their own children in a smaller and safer community. Josh states, “we are fortunate to be able to live close to family and friends and enjoy the small town life.” Josh enjoys golfing at Glenridge Golf Course and has been a league member since 2013. He says, “Irene is very fortunate to have such a well-run and maintained golf course. It is becoming a bit more rare to find such a nice 9-hole course with a loyal membership base who support its course and clubhouse.” Josh and his family also enjoy spending Sunday afternoons at Lake Marindahl with friends in the summer. He states, “our kids like to go swimming and take advantage of the calm water on a hot summer day.” When asked what annual event you look forward to each year Josh indicated, “the rodeo is always a fun weekend for our family. The kids enjoy the rodeo clown and kids activities. My wife and I enjoy seeing friends that we don’t normally see until the rodeo weekend. It’s a great family event and always brings a good crowd to our community.”
Bryce Johnke
Bryce is the Mayor of Irene. He is involved in the community by serving on the City Council the last 10+ years and continues to serve as a volunteer firemen for the last 18 years. He choses to live in the community because it is where he has always lived, and he enjoys the small town living and watching the traffic travel through our community. His favorite recreational activities to do around Irene include fishing and hunting. Each year Bryce looks forward to attending the annual Irene Rodeo.

Jacob Kribell
Jake is involved in the community through the Irene First Responders, Irene Volunteer Fire Department and Irene Rodeo Association. Jake enjoys serving as a First Responder and Fireman because he enjoys helping those in need within the community. Jake and his wife, Makayla, choose to raise their family in Irene because everyone treats you like family. His favorite recreational activities in Irene included hunting and lifting weights. Additionally, Jake enjoys bonfire with friends, Irene-Wakonda football games, and that everyone comes together when in need of help! Jake looks forward to the annual Irene Rodeo each June!

Chris serves the community on the Irene Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoys living and working in Irene for the small-town atmosphere and quiet community. Chris’ favorite recreational activities in the area includes camping, fishing, and hunting. Each year Chris looks forward to the Irene Rodeo.

Dan enjoys the small-town atmosphere Irene has to offer. His favorite activities to do in the area are hunting and fishing. Dan looks forward to attending the annual Irene Rodeo each year.

Nick is involved in the community of Irene serving on the Irene Volunteer Fire Department. He chooses to live here because it is where he grew up and he enjoys the small-town living. Nick enjoys the quiet friendly, atmosphere Irene has to offer. His favorite recreational activities include anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing! The Irene Rodeo is what he looks forward to each year!

He choses to live in the community because it is where he was raised, and he enjoys being close to friends and family as well as the small-town atmosphere. Dylan serves the community as an Irene Volunteer Firemen. He and his family recently bought a house and moved to Irene because they wanted to raise their family in a small community. He joined the fire department because he loves to give back and loves living in a small community surrounded by great folks. Dylan looks forward to taking in annual events the community has to offer in his first year of living here. Additional things Dylan has enjoyed so far about Irene is the Irene Lounge and the parks!
